Bella, Milo, Fizz, Jake, and Doodle.
Milo and Doodle are also a part of Rubus 2 and 3. They are the only two shoots from Rubus 1 which are involved in all three studies.
Bella and Jake are curved. They've been sited so that they curve away from the Sun. Ordinarily, plants curve toward the Sun. This is called phototropism and it's caused by a group of plant hormones called auxins.
They are being observed to see if continued phototropism causes the entire shoot:
- to straighten as it corrects its curve toward the Sun,
- to rotate towards the Sun (as in heliotropism),
- or the shoot tip to kink towards the Sun.
Fizz is not a green shoot. Fizz is a shoot, but thicker than the rest and turning purple. The success of Fizz is being compared to that of Milo and Doodle.
